You don't need any previous experience, and you don't need to be working in the industry already. 

You might be a young learner (age 14 and up) or an adult.

City & Guilds Level 1

This course will suit you if you want a solid introduction to the specialist role of automotive technician. You may also be looking to get the core skills you need to progress on to a related apprenticeship.

You choose 10 units from a range, totalling 45 credits. Some examples of the units available include:

Vehicle fuel and exhaust systems
Vehicle spark ignition systems
Vehicle electrical systems.

City & Guilds Level 2

Normally delivered as part of our Apprenticeship programme, but also available privately.

Level 2 will suit you if you have already developed a good foundation of skills and knowledge required to become a vehicle service technician and are ready to move to the next level. At this level you can choose from the following qualifications:

Diploma/Certificate in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles
Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles

City & Guilds Level 3

Normally delivered as part of our Apprenticeship programme, but also available privately.

This level will suit you if you have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge and looking to gain more responsibility by supervising others, running your own business or moving to a diagnostic technician level. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard. At this level you can choose from the following qualifications:

Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles
Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles
