FEEDBACK
“As a result of MHH completing the Level 1 Award in Employability at the Beckton Skills Centre, from Sep 23 – Dec 23, he has been able to secure 2 hours a week of paid employment at the Exit Foundation, doing gardening and horticulture, at £10 per hour. He was able to secure this work with the support of his Youth Worker/Mentor. He is now also seeking additional paid work opportunities in a Garage, having also completed the Level 1 Award in Motor Vehicle Maintenance.” CC – Assistant Head Teacher Transition & Progression/Head of Year 11 Newham PRUs, February 2024
I was an Apprentice 20 years ago at Beckton Skills Centre. It was very good to see Mike, my trainer, again. He has helped me to be where I am now in my life. Thank you. L V – Level 3 Mobile Air Conditioning Course – 14.02.24
“I had problems trying to start or find something to do with my life. There seemed to be no way to go. All I was doing was sitting around with friends, doing nothing. I wanted to get into work, but no one around could or would help me, then I found Beckton Skills Centre and they helped me with everything from college to work, helping me to gain my City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair” JM - Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair course, February 2024 (Now working full time as a HGV mechanic)
"I'm AM's Social Worker. I just wanted to thank you for the Go Kart Project - he had an amazing time, it made his summer. Things are very difficult for him at home and he's been through a lot recently, so being able to get out of the house and spend time with good role models was really good for him" HM, Social Worker, summer 2023 Go-Kart Project
"Dear Mike & Team, A heartfelt thanks from all of us! We appreciate what you are doing for our special needs child and all children who join every year. Keep up the good work! Best wishes", B's mum, summer 2023 Go-Kart Project
"Newham PRUs have been working in collaboration with The Beckton Skills Centre for two academic years. This partnership has provided our Key Stage 4 students with the opportunity to partake in a vocational learning programme and work towards achieving a Level 1 Award in Motor Vehicle Maintenance. Students are able to work alongside industry professionals, gain new skills and knowledge, and also develop an interest and curiosity for learning about careers within the Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) sector. Our students are thoroughly enjoying this new experimental and applied way of learning, which is also helping to engage and motivate them into making informed decisions about their future career aspirations and pathways. " CCJ Assistant Head Teacher Transition & Progression | Humanities & Careers | Head of Year 11 NEWHAM PRUs December 2022
