Skills Mathematics
Having a good grasp
of maths is essential in the modern world, but many young people feel that they
are “No good at maths”. Often, this is not the case and their poor
understanding of the subject is due to a bad educational experience, gaps in
their school attendance due to illness or Covid restrictions, or not
understanding its relevance in their lives. This course focuses on using maths
in an applied way, providing the skills needed for employment and everyday
life. We offer 5 different levels of study, ensuring all abilities are able to
gain a City & Guilds Functional Skills qualification in Mathematics. The
highest level we offer is Level 2, which is often required for entry into
university and apprenticeship programmes.

Skills English
We all use English
every day and manage to communicate with friends, family and employers. The
need for a qualification is often seen as unnecessary; however, our written
English is often used to judge our general intelligence (sometimes unfairly).
Having a good grasp of English will help present yourself in the best light and
also help with employment and further education course applications. English
Functional Skills is offered at 5 levels, giving all abilities a suitable
starting point. The highest level we offer is Level 2, which is often required
for entry into university and apprenticeship programmes.
English Functional
Skills comprises of 3 elements: Reading, Writing, and Speaking, Listening and
Communication.
